New ETF listings that could be worth considering in your portfolio

02/07/2019 - Sam Green

The Australian Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) industry hit a record $A50 Billion in funds under management (FUM) 2019, equating to more than 1000% growth in FUM over the past 10-years. Such explosive growth has no doubt increased the frequency and variety of new fund offerings, with 38 new funds listed in 2018, up from 31 in 2017.

2019 will likely see the listing of even more funds, including some that might be worth considering for your portfolio:

NDIA.AXW – Reliance India Nifty 50 ETF:

Listing in June, the NDIA fund tracks the 50 largest companies listed on India’s stock market. Previously it may have been difficult or expensive for an Australian investor to achieve such an exposure, but they can now invest in it with an ASX listed asset, and fees of 0.85% p.a.  India has enjoyed strong economic growth (currently an estimated 7.5%) and strong share price growth (15% over the past five years), so this fund is no doubt an exciting development for Australian investors.

IMPQ.AXW – eInvest Future Impact Small Caps Fund (Managed fund):

Listing in May, IMPQ aims to provide investments that contribute positively and sustainably to society and the environment. They do this by investing in predominately in Australian and New Zealand listed Small Caps. This is an actively managed fund with the Investment Manager, Perennial Value having a 16-year history of managing small cap portfolios.

INES.AXW – InvestSMART Ethical Securities Fund (Managed fund):

Another June listing, the InvestSMART Ethical Share Fund is another actively managed ETF designed for investors seeking a diversified selection of Australian companies that produce growing, sustainable profits at low risk of interruption from the increasing threats associated with Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors.

On top of those listed above, other recent listings include: the BetaShares Legg Mason Emerging Markets Fund, Vanguard Global Multi-Factor Active ETF, Vaneck Vectors MSCI World ex-Australia Quality ETF, and many more

The above funds are just a few of the many funds that have been listed on the ASX recently. Given that the ETF space is growing so rapidly, there will no doubt be many more ETFS, covering more asset classes, geographical regions, and investing themes being listed in the months to come.
